Algebra 1 Intervention Curriculum

I'm super excited to announce that I'm finally uploading my Algebra 1 Intervention Curriculum! You can find the link to the first unit here: Click Here! Do not purchase if you want to buy the whole curriculum here.

I only have the first unit posted but I will post a new unit every two weeks to create an Intervention Bundle. I'm very excited to finally have the time to be able to share this resource with all of you.

Each resource has a quick lesson review, practice, "quick checks", and a review assessment. I use this review book throughout the year and again at the end of the year for state test prep. 

I keep individualized tracking sheets for students who have not been successful in math over the years.

For other students, I use a larger tracking sheet.

Algebra 1 Word Wall

This year, I have a separate room for conducting Algebra 1 pull-outs. Even though students have an Algebra 1 interactive notebook, some students will not take the time to "find" the material in their notebook. So, I decided to create a visible word wall in the room in which students are able to easily reference important vocabulary words. This has made such a HUGE difference in working with struggling students and English language learners.

Any time a vocabulary word is mentioned, I will have a student get up and find the word on the wall. After they find the word, we take time to discuss, draw, or act out the word.

Below is a picture of one of our warm-ups for the day (LOW level of difficulty).

Overall, I LOVE how students would reference the wall anytime they were unsure of the meaning of a word. I am currently trying to edit it to make the wall more interactive.

Small Group Interventions (Pull Outs)

Part of my new job description includes pulling out students for small group interventions. At the beginning of the year, I was given a list of students who received interventions in middle school and needed extra assistance. I created the Progress Monitoring Form below in order to manage student data and used these forms to identify their testing scores for the previous two years.

I made it a point to get to know these kids during the fall semester so that I will be more successful reaching them during the pull out sessions in the spring semester. I am also analyzing each student's learning standard breakdown on each test to figure out how I am going to group students based on their challenges/strengths.

During the small group pull-outs, I am planning to create a cummulative folder of review material that they can access and practice. Of course, we are going to do more application based problems during these sessions but many of these students are lacking the skills needed to reach that higher level. I'm just not sure if I like it... I guess we will see once spring semester rolls around and I am pulling out these students! How does your school complete pull-out sessions with struggling students?
