Similar Triangles Foldable
Friday, January 8, 2016
I wanted to share a foldable that I made this past week that I am IN LOVE with :). Students will fill out the foldable for their notes and then after wards, they will sort the cards into the pockets. I am hoping that this lesson goes well, since students struggle with similar triangles. You can download this foldable and activity when you Click Here If you use, please give credit back to this blog and let me know how it goes in the classroom.

I loved it! My students had a great time doing this activity. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteI am so glad! Thanks for the feedback :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing I love it!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome :) I hope it works out well for you and your students!
DeleteThis went very well and was so helpful! The only thing I changed the second time around was the "pockets" they weren't quite big enough to fit and the students cut-outs keep falling out. So I went to them creating a table and writing in which examples were each category. Thanks so much for all your shares!
ReplyDeleteI love the pockets! Too cute! I used this last year and will use it again this week. I like things like this because kids can use it at home to quiz themselves after we complete it in class.
ReplyDeleteLove this activity! I converted it to a digital activity for my interactive board and each student had a colorful paper version. Each student chose a digital card to pocket and verbally explain their reasoning to the rest of the class who then agreed or disagreed and explained why. Really stimulated a huge amount of higher order thinking!
ReplyDeleteI loved this activity. Students were engaged and I love how cute and creative the pockets were! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get the link to load...

ReplyDeleteI turned this into a desmos card sort with some follow up questions.

How did you turn this into a Desmos activity - that sounds amazing - can you easily explain how you did that? - the link you provided doesn't seem to work. Thanks so much!
DeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love to use this resource with my students and their interactive notebooks... but the link will not load. Do you still have this?
Good morning Mrs. Newell,
ReplyDeleteI have been using your interactive notebook and they are helpful to me and most especially the students that I have this year. I have 3 regular geometry classes and 3 co teach classes. Students enjoy the foldables and keep their notes organized. It's fun and I don't have to take a lot of time creating new one. From the bottom of my heart, appreciate your goodness and creativity. God bless you.
Sincerely,
Maria Christina Peralta
Katie ... I can't tell you how much your activities help in my room. I sort of feel guilty being able to simply download them. Because of your generosity (and your stated love of teaching students with special needs), I have donated to the multiple handicap unit at my school for a party at the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteI can use create mathematically accurate worksheets, but I cannot come close to the aesthetics of your documents.
Good Morning Ms. Newell,
ReplyDeleteI love using your activities with my students. It is a great way to build hands on learning especially with special ed. students. I was just was wondering if you could send an answer sheet. I haven't taught this math in a long time. Thanks for all you do. Jil
What a great activity :) My year 9's loved it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this. It was so helpful!
